When I first saw Caras-Ionut’s work, it was like seeing a painting. Digital artistry is still an emerging field and he is a master of his craft. The dreamy and fantastical imagery he brings to life takes adults and children alike to another realm, although he creates every work from photographs taken here in a very real plane of existence.
Upon closer inspection, I found that one of his muses is his daughter. He is using photography to capture the stages of her growth, while growing along with her as his talent continues to develop. He is an amazing artist and a phenomenal teacher, who gives daily tutorials for free and for small fees. His abilities naturally highlight the inner beauty of the people and surroundings he captures and artfully designs.
As he says best:
“A lot of things make me express myself. I like to capture the whole world in my mind and then show it in a different perspective – like I want it to be. I realize many times that the ‘image’ view in the viewfinder of the camera is totally different to what we actually see with our eyes. And it is the same for me: When I cast my eyes over a situation – a normal situation that others will see as it probably is – I see what I want to believe.”
When asked if he had any images he would call favorites, he replied:
“I have many favourite images for many reasons: story, impact, colours, people in it, difficulty level, uniqueness, etc. But the photography I take of my daughter is particularly difficult to decide on – to choose a favourite – as I am personally attached to them all. But if I had to pick one, it would be this one.”
That’s why I love him! His desire to show his daughter, and the rest of us, that beauty can be found everywhere in life Colors Me Impressed. As a master once said, at a great age: “I am still learning.” I love that Ionut continues to teach as he continues to learn.
